In most cases, a water line installation can be completed without digging a large trench (trenchless), while some situations call for a manual trench to be dug in order to successfully complete the project. These two methods can vary depending on the location of the main valve in relation to your home’s water shutoff (beneath a sidewalk, tree, etc.). Once the installation method is determined via our camera inspection, we can begin.
For the trenchless method, a hole is created at both the start of the water line and at the end of your home’s receiver. With access to both holes, a cable is inserted to form a tunnel in which a pipe is fitted into the tunnel formation and finally, sealed properly.
If a trench is needed to access the old pipe or to install a new one, we will need to manually excavate. Once we have dug a trench to access the pipe, we will replace it with a new pipe, seal it, and backfill the trenched area. Due to the differences in the installation process, the time and labor cost involved could also be different.
